From (excuse the term) humble beginnings at Trenton, New Jersey's, WAAT in 1958 to KZLA in Los Angeles in 1996, Humble Harve became more than a legend on American Pop Radio. He became a symbol, an icon of the term "format radio". Millions of folks across the USA grew up listening to this famous "Boss Jock". BluePower is proud to present part one of a series of historic CD's produced completely by Mr. Miller titled, Doo Wop Heaven. This series recalls all the hits in order to define that specific area of American Popular Music called "Doo Wop". An educational masterpiece!

06/27/2003 The Young Marquis Returns!

He came, captured and thrilled Los Angeles audiences for two years on the "Rock Of Los Angeles", KROQ. THEN....HE DISAPPEARED! BluePower wondered where this crazed talent had gone and after almost two years of intensive searching, finally found THE YOUNG MARQUIS living in complete seclusion (almost), at his English countryside mansion just outside Cambridge. Offering TYM the opportunity to reach a worldwide audience and a decent pizza, he graciously agreed to move back to Los Angeles to start producing some brand new insanity exclusively for BluePower.com. Find out for yourself why this eccentric man drove his audiences wild. With his selection of the greatest in Blues, Rock and R&B, (not to mention (his brand) of humour); the party never stops. 12/01/2002 Matt Lucas....Rockabilly Hall Of Famer!

Matt Lucas plays Blues! He plays RocknRoll! He plays Boogie! He has Soul. Heck Matt even played DISCO! This guy can play it all! Matt Lucas was born in the Delta and raised in the Black land farming communities of Missouri. Matt Lucas knew he had the Blues from the first time he heard them. His songs are humorous, sad, insightful and revealing. Here is a guy who has been to the top and knows where the bottom is as well. His music tells the story of the birth of RocknRoll and he knows where it came from too. Matt Lucas knows how to move his audience out of the chair and on to their feet. His first hit was "I'm Movin' On", which was recorded in Memphis in the early 60s and became his first gold record. He took this old country standard and made it his own. Many hits followed his first million seller but this one never dies. Its back on the charts again in Europe and still climbing. Matt has just recorded another CD. Recorded outsite Memphis and produced by Lou Hobbs. Its called SHOCKABILLY and with Matts wonderfully, wild and unique style, singing these great rockabilly songs, it has got to be a hit! Matt Lucas is a drummer. One bad-ass drummer. He is one of those rare birds that can keep a beat and sing too. Matt is touring, playing festivals, and giging all over the place. If you see a tall blond guy with flying drum sticks singing his heart out - bets are its Matt Lucas

08/08/2002 Rastus (Parts One,Two And Three)

THE BEST MUSIC YOU "NEVER" HEARD! In 1969 I met a band which would become a driving force in my life for the next two years. I have had the good fortune to work with some really fine musicians over the years but none that could compare with the tremendous power of Rastus. My problem was that I could not get them to play with the same intensity in the studio as when they were in front of an audience. Listen in as Jim Cantale and I discuss the ups and downs of a band that was on the edge of making it big but could never cross the line to real stardom. John Rhys/BluePower.com

09/15/2000 Ike Turner Interview....Parts 3 And 4!

This time IKE pulls no punches. He speaks about the record companies of the fifties and sixties and their ways of doing business. He talks about JERRY WEXLER and AHMET ERTEGUN at ATLANTIC. PHIL and LEONARD CHESS of CHESS RECORDS. The BIHARI BROTHERS at MODERN and SID NATHAN from KING RECORDS. (Ike's first contract at King Records paid him 1/4 of a cent per record sold. Outrageous by today's standards.) On the other side of the coin however; Ike reminds us that these companies were the standard bearers of Black music and were responsible for the giant steps that brought Blues and Rhythm and Blues to the forefront of American popular music and that without these independent record companies and the men that ran them, these genres may have died out completely. Ike speaks out about RAP and the negative values of the genre regarding African Americans. The second of a four part series.

We think you will be surprised to find this man is "not" the ogre of which he has been made by the media. You will find that Ike Turner is one of the most gifted popular musicians alive today and has contributed more to the world of popular music than even the experts realize. John Rhys

Hi everyone; this is MIKE GARNER bringing you an hour of blues by musicians from the South Pacific; from New Zealand, in fact. The whole spectrum of blues is played in New Zealand, from Chicago, to acoustic, to Texas, to jazz influenced, to boogie woogie piano and in the next hour we'll hear from just some of the performers in New Zealand. Of course we're limited to those who have produced CDs and the cost of that in our small market of just 3.5 million people makes it both expensive and difficult to do.
